Only Human

I'm only human,

even after everything I have been through.

I'm only human and despite all odds,
I try to say the truth.

I'm only human,
but I try to match unrealistic expectations set for me.

I work hard,
just to ridicule myself,
as though it's something I'm expected to do.

But when I sit in front of the mirror,
I bleed through its surface and see the real me,
not what I'm supposed to be.

Now I realize...
I'm only human,
but I'm beautiful,
through and through,
and I won't change myself,
to what is convenient for you.
